8U Division
Our 8U Division is designed to continued the development from our 6U T-ball Division and begin to work on gameplay rules and further understanding the game. This is a coach pitch division that helps players begin to develop skills while facing living pitching situations. In this division our coaches will emphasize game situations and the rules to prepare for the more the upper divisions.
Season Expectations
- Teams are formed and players will be contacted by their team coaches. Coaches will work within the field availability slots to schedule practices that fit the best with players availabilities.
- Home games are played on the softball fields at John H West Elementary school.
- Games are scheduled on Weeknights and Weekends depending on field availability. Games usually last between 1- 1 1/2 Hours.
- Season will take place from End of April through beginning of June.
- At end of season, the division will be thrown a Pizza Party and received trophies.
Gameplay Rules
- Universal Batting – everyone bats!
- 10 Players Maximum in the field
- Bases at 60 feet.
- Each game is a 6 inning game- no inning to start after 1 ½ hours
- Only 2 defensive coaches allowed on the field.
- Coach Pitch - Each batter receives 6 pitches; coaches may assist after. The goal is to put the ball in play both for the batters and fielders’ development.
- Each half inning is 3 outs or 4 runs.
- No Stealing. No Leading.
- Nobody is permitted behind the backstop; including coaches, parents, friends, children, grandparents, etc.
- All players must wear complete uniform issued by their organization.
- Players can advance a maximum of 2 bases on a given hit.
- No extra base given on an overthrow.
- No advancing to next base on an error.
- Courtesy runner must be used for catcher if she gets on base. Runner should be last out or last runner.
- Fielders are strongly encouraged to wear masks when playing the field.
